A roaring success: boutique hotel group hits their content management stride with Wetu

Man comparing information on his mobile device with image-rich content displayed on his desktop computer, analyzing differences in presentation.
Lion Roars Hotels transformed content sharing with Wetu, streamlining updates, saving time, and strengthening agent relationships—delivering effortless marketing, enhanced client connections, and increased visibility across the travel industry.

The challenge

Lion Roars boasts a vibrant collection of boutique hotels and lodges across South Africa, each offering a unique guest experience. But sharing this variety with the world wasn’t always easy. Agents were constantly asking for the “latest version” of Lion Roars’ content, but with no centralised system to manage information, updating and distributing marketing materials was time-consuming.

“When making changes or updating images, the marketing department constantly had to get involved before we could send the information to agents,” notes Lion Roars Hotels & Lodges, Group Sales Manager Teena Douglas, adding that large file sizes also posed an ongoing challenge.

The solution

Lion Roars first came across Wetu in 2017, immediately recognising its potential to solve their content management issues. Now, Lion Roars’ sales, contracting and marketing departments actively use Wetu to manage 15 enhanced listings, specifically using the platform for images, fact sheets and rack rates.

“From a supplier perspective, we always want to ensure the agents are equipped with everything they need. Wetu makes this so much easier. Every time I do a tradeshow, I send my feedback to the agents I meet and literally just add the Wetu link to my email for them to access absolutely everything,” says Teena.

Key outcomes

For Lion Roars, teaming up with Wetu came with many perks. Specifically:

Time savings: Instead of sending individual files after meetings or tradeshows, Lion Roars now shares a simple Wetu link where all their content is neatly organised.

Stronger client relationships: With more time saved, Lion Roars can focus on what matters most—building deeper connections with their clients.

Increased agent satisfaction: Agents can access up-to-date information whenever needed, as often as they like, without reaching out. Eliminating the time spent waiting for content helps agents increase their business efficiency and improves their overall experience.

Enhanced company image: Wetu’s platform allows Lion Roars to quickly update and share polished, branded brochures, presenting a proactive and professional company image to agents and clients alike.

Exposure to a broader audience: By using Wetu, Lion Roars has increased its visibility among travel agents and tour operators who use the platform to create their itineraries.

“For me, Wetu is like a one-stop-shop. It’s almost a no-brainer. As long as I keep my content and images and everything on Wetu up to date, everything else is sorted.”

Simplified marketing, effortless engagement

Wetu has not only simplified content management for Lion Roars but has also changed how they interact with agents and clients, driving more efficient marketing, stronger relationships, and better customer experiences. “For me, Wetu is like a one-stop-shop. It’s almost a no-brainer. As long as I keep my content and images and everything on Wetu up to date, everything else is sorted,” Teena says.
